What we do

5050vision was established to respond to issues around demographic change and an ageing population by raising awareness and influencing policy.

Having focused on the economic agenda and health inequalities, an external evaluation of 5050vision was commissioned by the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA).  This evaluation provides an excellent overview of the work of the partnership and recommendations for priorities to take forward a coherent regional approach to address the ageing population.

5050vision with partner agencies led by the NWDA commissioned and managed Organisation Development Services (ODS) to develop a Regional Framework for Ageing (RFA).   There was a broad consultation and engagement process with stakeholders from across the region to develop a framework that would influence policy development including the emerging Regional Strategy and other regional policies and practice.

The Regional Framework for Ageing has identified key priorities for action for the region across the following policy areas:  economic (employment, worklessness, skills and enterprise); health and wellbeing, housing and transport and was launched in April 2009 with a commitment to take forward these priorities by the partner agencies, NWDA, 4NW (Regional Leaders Forum), Department of Health (DH NW), NHS NW, Joint Improvement Partnership (JIP) and Age Concern & Help the Aged.  Click here to access these priorities.

5050vision has now developed a business plan for 2009-2012 and is working with partners to develop an operational plan to determine the most effective approach to deliver our objectives and to engage with older people across the region.

Plans are being developed for Task & Finish Groups to address the objectives in the Regional Framework.
